Gandeys Partners with MFT Charity to Help Bring a MediCinema to Manchester Royal Infirmary

Gandeys World Class Productions is proud to announce a new partnership with Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) Charity to help raise vital funds for the creation of a purpose-built MediCinema inside Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Every year, thousands of patients are admitted to hospitals across the Oxford Road Campus. For many, long or repeated hospital stays can be isolating, stressful and emotionally challenging—not only for patients, but for their families and loved ones too.

MFT Charity aims to change this by building a fully accessible, 50-seat MediCinema at Manchester Royal Infirmary, delivered at no cost to the NHS. Working in partnership with the BAFTA Award-winning charity MediCinema, the new cinema will serve patients from Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Saint Mary’s Hospital, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, and Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Designed with inclusivity at its heart, the MediCinema will accommodate wheelchairs, hospital beds and essential medical equipment, with screenings supported by MediCinema nurses and trained volunteers. Once complete, it will host 260 screenings a year, showing the latest film releases alongside much-loved classics—offering patients a chance to escape the clinical environment, even if only for a short while.

The appeal is also being championed by Andrew Flintoff, who said:

“If everyone across Manchester donated just £2 this Christmas – less than a cup of coffee – we could hit the £1.1 million target to bring this amazing cinema to life and make this the best Christmas gift our city could give.”

Gandeys is supporting the campaign through fundraising across its productions, including collections at Snowstorm on Ice performances. In 2024 alone, Gandeys audiences have already helped raise over £12,000 in support of charitable causes.
